We like to promote good quality Berkshires in East Anglia.

The litters are reared outside having farrowed in a safe environment from fox attacks.  the breeding herd live outside in our orchard.

Last of the 3 January litters arrived last night, relatively uneventful. 15972541_10154222748247322_7337427154962032495_o.jpg 11 survivors,   Wena is a bit of a fidget, so I hope they learn quickly to keep out from under her feet. Not many gilts in the 3 litters - as usual!   I will be looking for our show team as they get a bit bigger.

The girls have done well this year with 3 litters having arrived and one more expected in the next week.  Gwen farrowed much later 20161217_143756.jpgthan expected, mid December with a litter of 10.  Some really special pigs amongst this lot, although the timing for showing is not the best.

Her sister farrowed at the beginning of15875014_10154205096137322_2378483491967513104_o.jpg January with her second litter of 11.  These are a Peter Lad line so hoping to get a couple of good boars from this one.

Some of these have already been booked in advance, but some will still be available at the end of February.

We have reached the end of the showing season with two championships.  Agatha's gilts continue to grow their success including taking the Interbreed Pairs championship at Newbury as well as both reaching the top 6 in the Berkshire Champion of Champions.

Two litters arrived, Megan & Doris.   Megan (Suzanne breed line) had 8, 3 gilts and 5 boars; Doris had 11, 6 gilts & 5 boars.  Doris had a hard time and was very tired, but all doing well now. Litteres due to go to new homes from the beginning of September.
There are a couple of lovely gilts I would like to keep for next year.
